The New Shot Meter in NBA 2k22
One of the first things you will notice in NBA 2k22 is the new Shot Meter. This move seems to make the game extra realistic. Also, once you did begin to grab the gist of the meter’s timing bar, you noticed that you were able to score with some ease.
Conserve Stamina During Matches
One new feature of NBA 2k22 is that fatigue and exhaustion affect the power and accuracy of your shots in the game. This means gone are the days when you would aimlessly drive into the opponent’s court and spam shots. Now, you need to control how often you use the sprint button.
Defense
The 2K team put some serious work in on the defensive side of the ball. First, you will not be sliding all over the court while trying to defend, allowing you to have a better experience in the game. Also, defensive AI has seen quite the improvement as well. Your counterparts are no longer inept at stopping plays and are much brighter in their rotations and assignments.
Blacktop
The Blacktop mode is quite fun. You can choose between 2, 3, and 5 players in this mode. Once you make the selection, you will also be able to select from a list of players from the team you choose. This mode provides a fun basketballing experience in a casual cityside court setting. It’s a relaxing break from the lights and sounds of the more severe and focused career modes.
MyPlayer
As for MyPlayer, every decision you make here affects your career and life off the court. You will have the freedom to choose your managers, and based on these choices, you will be able to decide if you even wish to pursue a career outside of basketball.
MyCareer
The 2K team has moved from a linear star-studded story to a choice-filled RPG mode. Depending on what you want to do, you’ll still experience college, the G League, or going straight to the NBA. You start as your brand, literally. You’re a YouTube and social media sensation that hoops. Implementing this specific backstory is a perfect choice, as it speaks to how the world currently operates in real life.
MyTeam
MyTeam still features an excellent drafting system, helping you have the ability to get your hands on some highly talented players. This will probably be one of the most played modes in this game.
2K has improved the fantasy MyTeam mode so much his year. There are many more customizations to make with building your shoes, getting your cards graded (more on that later), and picking your players’ unique skills.
The mode also comes with plenty of challenges and pickup games to keep offline gamers busy for the long haul and brings a lot of rewards like NBA2K22 MT, VC, Tokens, etc.
Also, with the introduction of the Shot Meter, there’s scope for this mode to become all the more competitive.

MyNBA/MyWNBA
This year’s version of MyNBA/MyWNBA includes new features in staffing and preparation. Users can now build an entire front office staff of four departments, employing 17 staff members. The mode now features a Prep Hub that puts all of the information about your team into a single menu. NBA 2K22 has also added training updates to MyNBA/MyWNBA, which add another layer to running a franchise.
Customization
The ability to customize is probably one of the most excellent NBA 2k22. Not only for your MyPLAYER, but for the first time, but MyTEAM also allows even deeper customization for your crew. Apart from choosing your team logo and homecourt, you can now select any jerseys you acquire and set them as your team’s uniform.
The Verdict
When it comes to realistic sports simulations, NBA 2K22 is one of the best I have seen. The developers listened to fan concerns and took action to improve this year’s edition. First, with the new Shot Meter, you might enjoy the game for all its talk and efforts about being a more realistic basketball simulator. Also, the game still boasts of a few great playing modes. MyNBA/MyWNBA is a comprehensive franchise mode where players can bring their teams to glory, and MyTeam has made changes that fans of the game mode will love. The City and MyCareer offer something completely new. Not only is the gameplay impeccable, but the graphics and presentation add an element of immersion that other sports games often fail to replicate. Outside of the excellent gameplay, NBA 2K22 has something for everybody, not to mention some fun off-the-court customization options.
In short, NBA 2K22 is a must-buy for basketball fans and a considerable improvement over NBA 2K21 to keep you busy for a whole year.
